MARGAUX SHEEHAN NAMED SECOND TEAM ALL-BIG SKY

4/12/2006

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State junior Margaux Sheehan has been named second team all-Big Sky Conference, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Sheehan during her collegiate career.

A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Sheehan leads the Hornets with an average of 77.8 per round. She has three top 10 finishes this season, including being the medalist at the Lady Aztec Fall Classic on October. In that tournament, she tied the school record by shooting 68 in the first round. In 19 rounds this year, she has 79 or better 14 times.

The Big Sky bases its all-conference selections on the Golfweek Women’s Collegiate Performance Index. The top five players in the rankings earn first team all-Big Sky honors while the players ranked 6-10 are placed on the second team. Sheehan ended the year ranked sixth amongst Big Sky players.

Northern Arizona’s Sophia Choi was named the Player of the Year and teammate Ali Carter earned the Freshman of the Year award.

The Hornets will conclude their regular season next week at the Big Sky Championships. The three-round tournament will take place from Apr. 17-19 in Goodyear, Ariz.
