WOMEN'S GOLF REMAINS IN FIRST PLACE FOLLOWING SECOND ROUND

GOODYEAR, Ariz. --- The Sacramento State women''s golf team remained in first place following the second round of the Bobcat Desert Classic on Tuesday. The Hornets shot 315 as a team and currently own a two-round total of 616. North Texas is seven strokes back in second place followed by Oral Roberts, Northern Colorado and Montana who are tied for third at 624.

Individually, sophomore Kim Coppin shot 78 and is in a three-way tie for second place at 151. Sophomore Heather LeMaster is tied for eighth place with a second-round 79 and sophomore Emily Longcrier is tied for 14th with a two-round total of 155.

Juniors Jennifer Parkes and Margaux Sheehan round out the Hornet lineup. The pair are tied for 32nd with a total of 160.

Andra Lancaster of North Texas is the individual leader after shooting 76-74-150. Coppin, Northern Arizona''s Sophia Choi and Grand Canyon''s Jessica McKay are all one stroke back. McKay had the low round on Tuesday with a tournament-record 70.

As a team, the Hornets were 14 strokes higher in the second round compared to their 301 on Monday. However, the team was able to extend its lead by one stroke.

Northern Colorado and Montana made the biggest charge in the second round as both teams fired a 308. The two schools were the only ones in the 16-team field to break 310 on Tuesday.

The three-round tournament concludes on Wednesday.
