BEAUMONT, Calif. --- The Sacramento State women’s golf team improved its first round total by 12 shots but it was not enough as the Hornets finished in fifth place at the Lady Braveheart Classic on Tuesday. Kim Coppin led the team, matching her first round total of 80. Coppin tied for 10th.Margaux Sheehan, who was in fourth place following the first day, ended the tournament in 12th after shooting 79-82-161.Erica Yoshino posted the best round on the team on Tuesday, firing 79. Yoshino concluded the tournament at 90-79-169 to tie for 35th. Jennifer Parkes equaled Yoshino’s total after shooting 88-81-169. Heather LeMaster tied for 28th at 85-81-166.
Cal Poly’s Jessica Huss was the tournament medalist behind a stellar round on Tuesday. Huss, who shot 82 in the first round, rallied for a tournament-low 71 to finish at 153. Heather MacRae of San Diego State was second at 76-78-154.
San Diego State captured the team title with scores of 315-309-624. UC Davis moved into second place after shooting 325-307-632. Santa Clara (324-321-645) and Cal (334-315-649) finished third and fourth, respectively.
