BEAUMONT, Calif. --- Junior Margaux Sheehan shot 79 and currently sits in fourth place following the first round of the Lady Braveheart Challenge hosted by UC Riverside. As a team, the Hornets shot 332 and are fourth with one round to play.Monday’s round was hampered by high winds which gusted upwards of 30 miles per hour. Those conditions affected the scores as no player shot better than 76. Heather MacRae and Maki Kamimura of San Diego State are tied for first at the midway point.
Sheehan shot 41 on the front nine and followed with 38 to finish three strokes off the pace. Kim Coppin fired a round of 80 and is in a six-player tie for sixth.
Heather LeMaster is tied for 25th after shooting 85 while Jennifer Parkes shot 88 to tie for 43rd. Erica Yoshino rounded out the Hornet golfers, shooting 90 to tie for 53rd.
As a team, the Hornets are 17 strokes behind San Diego State. Santa Clara shot 324 and is second while UC Davis is third at 325. Cal Poly (334), UC Riverside (342), Montana State (343), Cal State Northridge (344), Portland (348) and Cal State San Marcos (350) round out the 10-team field.
