SPARKS, Nev. --- Sophomore Emily Longcrier shot 78 and is currently tied for sixth place following the first round of the Wolf Pack Invitational at the D’Andrea Golf Club on Monday. As a team, Sacramento State shot 323 and is sixth out of 12 teams.Longcrier shot 40 on the front nine and added a 38 on the back to move into a 10-person tie for sixth. The Bakersfield, Calif., native is five shots off the lead currently held by Jenelle Gomez of San Jose State and Karie Street of Boise State.
Sacramento State also received strong showings from Jennifer Parkes who shot 80 to finish 20th. Erica Yoshino fired an 81 and is tied for 21st while Margaux Sheehan added an 84 and is tied for 40th.
San Jose State holds the team lead after shooting 305. The Spartans have a six-stroke edge over host Nevada and lead Boise State and Northern Iowa by 13.
The three-round tournament continues on Tuesday with the second round. The final round will take place on Wednesday.
