WOMEN'S GOLF IN FIFTH PLACE AFTER SECOND ROUND OF BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS

GOODYEAR, Ariz. --- Senior Courtney Cotter shot a 1-over 73 to lead Sacramento State in the second round of the Big Sky Conference Women''s Golf Championship. Cotter is currently tied for sixth place while the Hornets sit in fifth with one round remaining.

Eastern Washington shot 286 as a team to open a 10-stroke lead over Portland State (580-590). Weber State is currently third with a score 613. Northern Arizona (616), Sacramento State (621), Montana State (623), Montana (624) and Idaho State (628) complete the eight-team field.

The Hornets were forced to count all of their scores on Tuesday after Margaux Sheehan withdrew due to illness. The team responded behind the Cotter sisters. Courtney led the team with a 73 while freshman Kathryn shot 77 — 11 strokes better than her first round. Jennifer Parkes added an 80 while Sarah Kuykendall shot 83.

Lauren Gray of Northern Arizona and Carlie Allen of Eastern Washington are tied for the individual lead. Gray followed a first-round 74 with a second-round 70. Allen shot 73 after firing a 71 in round one.

The tournament will conclude with 18 holes on Wednesday.
