GOODYEAR, Ariz. --- Senior Courtney Cotter shot 75 to help Sacramento State to third-place after the first round of the Big Sky Conference Championships Monday afternoon at the Palm Valley Golf Club. The three-round event will see the players play 18 holes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.Portland State and Eastern Washington are currently tied for first place with a team score of 294. Sacramento State sits in third at 308 while Montana (310), Northern Arizona (311), Weber State (312), Idaho State (314) and Montana State (318) complete the eight-team field.
Cotter was consistent, shooting 37 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine to lead the Hornets. Jennifer Parkes is tied for 11th at 76 while Sarah Kuykendall is tied for 18th (78). Sacramento State also counted the score of Margaux Sheehan who is tied for 25th after shooting 79.
Carlie Allen of Eastern Washington holds the lead after the first round with a 1-under 71. Portland State''s Rebecca Randolph and Lisa Kajihara are tied for second with an even-par 72.
