MONTEREY, Calif.— The Sacramento State women’s golf team opened the 2003-04 season with a fifth-place finish at the Golf Mart/Lady Otter Invitational on Tuesday. The two-round event, which was hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay, was held at the Black Horse Golf Course.Mt. San Antonio College ran away with the team title, posting a score of 638. Oklahoma City University was second with a team score of 649. Florida Gulf Coast University (652), Western Washington (664) and Sacramento State (671) rounded out the top five.
Individually, Mt. SAC’s Erin Kato claimed medalist honors. Kato shot rounds of 78 and 75 to win by four strokes. Courtney Cotter led Sacramento State with a 12th-place finish. Cotter shot 82-82-164.
