CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. --- Tracy Nichols tied for third and Courtney Cotter tied for ninth to help lead the Sacramento State women''s golf team to a second-place finish at the Colby Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The two-round tournament was held at Rancho Canada Golf Club.Nichols shot rounds of 78 and 79 for a total of 157. She ended the competition in a three-way tie for third, seven strokes behind Santa Clara''s Meggie Fagundes (72-78-150) who was the medalist.
Cotter continued her strong play during the spring by scoring 77-83-160. The sophomore ended in a three-way tie for ninth.
Eastern Washington captured the team title with rounds of 313 and 315. The Hornets wre 12 strokes back with a two-round total of 640. Santa Clara (642), Gonzaga (648) and Cal Poly (650) rounded out the top five.
Sacramento State will next be in action at the Cal Poly Invitational on April 14-15 at the Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande, Calif.
