LAKE SAN MARCOS, Calif. --- Jennifer Bawanan led three Kansas golfers in the top 10 after shooting 71 in the first round of the Aztec Invitational on Monday. The two-round tournament, which consists of 15 teams, is being held at Lake San Marcos Country Club.Bawanan is one stroke ahead of San Diego State’s Shayn Miyajima following the first 18 holes. The two are the only players in the field to shoot par or better. Kansas leads the team standings with a combined total of 304. San Diego State is just one stroke behind the Jayhawks, followed by Texas Tech, Cal State Northridge, Colorado State and Sacramento State.
The Hornets were led by sophomore Courtney Cotter who is third overall after shooting 74. Tracy Nichols is tied for 22nd and Mackenzie Francis is tied for 26th after firing rounds of 79 and 80, respectively.
