AVILA BEACH, Calif. --- The Sacramento State women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Cal Poly Invitational on Tuesday. Cal State Northridge won the tournament with a score of 635.The Matadors led from wire-to-wire at the two-round event. The team shot 309 in the first round and 326 in the second.
Eastern Washington finished second with a total of 642. Cal Poly (660), Santa Clara (676), Sacramento State (691) and Cal Poly "B" (704) rounded out the field.
Individually, Cal State Northridge’s Beth Allen shot rounds of 73 and 77 to win by nine strokes. Jeanie Bagnell of Eastern Washington and Keley Carlson of Northridge tied for second.
Sacramento State was led by Christy Ferrero who tied for fourth with a total of 160. MacKenzie Francis tied for 20th with 169.
