LOMPOC, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women’s golf team shot 314 in the
second and final round of the Matador Fall Classic to finish in third
place. The Hornets’ two-round total of 646 placed them 37 strokes behind
first-place Portland but just two strokes off of Cal State Northridge.
Individually, Sacramento State was led by senior Denise Larson. Larson
had back-to-back rounds of 78 and finished in second place. Sarah Walter
of Portland claimed the medalist honor with a total of 151. Christy
Ferrero was the only other Hornet in the top 10. Ferrero shot rounds of
87 and 76 to finish in ninth place.
Sacramento State will conclude its fall season at the Cal State Monterey
Bay Tournament held Nov. 2-3 at the Bayonet Golf Club.
