LARSON TIED FOR THIRD, WOMEN’S GOLF FOURTH AFTER FIRST DAY AT MATADOR

LOMPOC, Calif. -- Senior Denise Larson shot a round of 78 and currently

is tied for third place, one shot out of the lead after the first day of

competition at the Matador Fall Classic at the La Purisima Golf Club.

As a team, Sacramento State sits in fourth place with a combined total

of 332. The University of Portland leads the event with 317. Western New

Mexico (329) and host Cal State Northridge (330) occupy second and third

place.

Individually, Casey Cooper of Western New Mexico and Portland’s

Stephanie Nado are tied for the lead with 77. Larson, Jessica Monson of

Santa Clara and Sarah Walter of Portland are third.

The tournament will conclude with a final round on Tuesday afternoon.
