PERSSON HOLDS INDIVIDUAL LEAD AFTER FIRST ROUND AT CAL POLY

NIPOMO, Calif. — Junior Lisa Persson holds a two-stroke lead following the first round of the Firestone Grill College Invitational on Monday at Monarch Dunes Golf Club. Persson shot an even-par 71 during the opening round. Second round play was halted due to darkness.
As a team, Sacramento State is in second place with two rounds remaining. The Hornets totaled 306 in the first round and are six strokes behind host Cal Poly. Cal State Northridge shot 312 and is third. Biolo (316) and Santa Clara (320) complete the top five.
Junior Tiffany Nichols is tied for fifth overall and had the second-best score by a Hornet, shooting 75. Sophomores Lexie Hall and Sagee Palavivatana shot 78 and 82, respectively, to tie for 13th and 26th. Freshman Natalie Bodnar also carded a round of 82 to tie for 26th.
Redshirt freshman Rockelle Sande, who was competing as an individual, shot 79 and is tied for 16th.
