SHUTLER NAMED BIG SKY PLAYER OF THE YEAR; HALL NAMED TO SECOND TEAM

OGDEN, Utah —
Sacramento State's Julie Shutler was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Golf Player of the Year, it was announced today. Along with the honor, Shutler was one of five first team selections. Freshman Lexie Hall was named to the second team.

During the 2011-12 season, Shutler set the Sacramento State single-season record for stroke average at 75.12. Her career average of 77.44 is also the best in school history. As a senior, the Manteca, Calif., native recorded four top five finishes and led the team in six of nine tournaments.

Hall had an amazing freshman season, averaging 77.92 in 26 rounds. Her season average is the sixth best in program history. The Austin, Texas, native led the team at the Big Sky Championship, shooting a career best 216 in the three rounds, including a 3-under par 69 in the second round.

The Big Sky uses Golfstat Rankings to determine the first and second teams. Shutler, who was a first team selection in 2010, finished the year ranked 139th in Div. I. Carleigh Silvers of Northern Colorado was second in the league at 243rd.
