GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Senior Julie Shulter shot an even-par 72 to lead a short-handed Sacramento State women's golf team in the second round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Tuesday at Ocotillo Golf Resort.
Shutler moved into fourth place and stands at 2-over par heading into Wednesday's final round. On Tuesday, the Manteca, Calif., native opened with four straight pars and was even through nine holes with two birdies and two bogeys. She bogeyed the par-4 10th but earned that stroke back with a birdie on the par-4 13th. Shutler closed out her round with five consecutive pars.
Shutler's 74-72-146 places her 10 strokes off the pace of Colorado State's Brianna Espinoza. Iowa's Kristi Cardwell is in second place at 138 while Wichita State's Daniela Rugeles has shot 142 for third.
The Hornets dropped into a tie for eighth place in the team standings after shooting 310 in the second round.
