FORMER HORNET ASTHA MADAN QUALIFIES FOR LADIES EUROPEAN TOUR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Former Sacramento State golfer Astha Madan earned her Ladies European Tour card after tying for seventh place at the Finals Lalla Aicha Tour School in Morocco. Madan shot 65-74-69-76-66 in the five-round, multi-stage event.

By tying for seventh place, Madan claimed one of the 25 tour cards granted from the qualifying event. The 2019 Ladies European Tour begins on Jan. 10-12 with the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.

Madan, a native of Gurgaon, India, completed her playing career with the Hornets last spring. She ranks fifth in program history with a career stroke average of 75.19. Her 102 career rounds are tied for the second most all-time at Sacramento State and she earned all-Big Sky honors three times during her career. As a senior, Madan set the school record by averaging 73.97 and had four top five finishes. Her season was highlighted at the Sacramento State Open where she birdied her final four holes, including a 25-foot putt on No. 18, to finish second individually and lift the Hornets to the team title.
