WOMEN'S GOLF MATCHES SCORE AT GOLFWEEK CONFERENCE CHALLENGE, VIDEN SHOOTS 73

WOLCOTT, Colo. — For the second consecutive day, the Sacramento State women's golf produced a team score of 302 at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Hornets will head to the final round on Wednesday in 11th place out of 18 teams.

Sophomore Corinne Viden paced Sacramento State in the second round with a 1-over par round of 73. Viden parred her first eight holes before a birdie on the par-5 18th left her 1-under at the turn. She quickly returned to even with a bogey on the par-5 fourth and parred the next four holes. Her final bogey came on the par-4 sixth and was trailed by three more pars. Viden is tied for 43rd place at 79-73-152.

Sofie Babic is tied for 11th overall at 70-74-144. After a birdie on the par-3 10th started her day, Babic played the next nine holes at 7-over par with five bogeys and a double bogey. From there, however, she caught fire and was 4-under over the final eight holes. The streak started with a birdie on the par-5 second and was highlighted with birdies on the Nos. 6-8.

Nishtha Madan added a round of 76 toward the team total. Madan played the back nine of the course at 1-over with three birdies and four bogeys. She had three bogeys and six pars on the front side to end her round out 4-over. Her two-round total of 79-76-155 has her tied for 58th place.

Julia Becker provided the final score with a 79. Becker birdied the par-3 10th to start her round but found herself 3-over at the midway point with a double bogey on the par-4 13th and bogeys on the par-4 14th and par-3 17th. She eventually rose to 5-over before a birdie on the par-5 fifth but played her final four holes at 3-over par. Becker is tied for 48th heading into the final round at 74-79-153.

UCLA's Patty Tavaanakit and Mariel Gadiano are tied for the individual lead at 6-under. The pair are three shots ahead a trio who are 3-under par.
