  • BECKER SHOOTS 68, WOMEN'S GOLF EVEN DURING FINAL ROUND OF CLE ELUM REGIONAL

    Sacramento State’s Julia Becker completed her collegiate career in style as the senior shot 68 during the final round of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional on Wednesday. Becker and Corinne Viden were both under par during the round and helped the Hornets shoot an even-par 288 and finish in 13th place overall.

    The Sacramento State women’s golf team fought through gusty winds to post its second straight round of 302 at the NCAA Cle Elum Regional on Tuesday at Tumble Creek Golf Course. Scores rose considerably for 14 of the 18 teams in the field during the second round. The Hornets were able to pass one team in the standings, drew closer to several others, and will enter the final round on Wednesday in 14th place.
  • MADAN SHOOTS 71 TO GUIDE WOMEN'S GOLF IN OPENING ROUND OF CLE ELUM REGIONAL

    Nishtha Madan posted a team-best seven birdies and finished the opening round of the NCAA Cle Elum Regional at 1-under par to lead the Sacramento State Women’s Golf team on Monday at Tumble Creek Golf Course. The Hornets shot 302 during the round and are in 15th place.
  • WOMEN'S GOLF STARTS PLAY AT CLE ELUM REGIONAL ON MONDAY

    The Sacramento State women’s golf team will make its third NCAA Div. I postseason appearance when it heads to the Cle Elum Regional. The tournament, which will be hosted by Washington, will take place May 6-8 at the Tumble Creek Golf Club.
  • MEN'S BASKETBALL, MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY AND WOMEN'S GOLF EARN APR PUBLIC RECOGNITION AWARDS

    Sacramento State's men's basketball, men's cross country and women's golf programs each received NCAA Public Recognition Awards for having Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores that rank among the top 10 percent nationally in their respective sports for the four-year period ending in 2017-18. This year marked the second consecutive season that all three teams earned the award.
  • SUTHERLAND NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN'S GOLF COACH OF THE YEAR FOR THIRD-STRAIGHT SEASON

    Sacramento State's David Sutherland was named the 2019 Big Sky Jeff Smith Women's Golf Coach of the Year, it was announced today. The award is the third straight coach of the year honor for Sutherland, and he joins Felicia Johnston (2003-05) as the only coach to win three consecutive Big Sky Coach of the Year awards.

    The Sacramento State women's golf team will continue its season at the Cle Elum Regional of the 2019 NCAA Div. I Women's Golf Championship, it was announced today. The tournament, which will be hosted by Washington, will take place on May 6-8 at Tumble Creek Golf Club.

    The Sacramento State women?s golf team claimed its second Big Sky Championship in the last three years with a record-setting performance on Sunday. The Hornets completed the wire-to-wire victory by setting the tournament 54-hole and single record.

    The winds increased during the second round of the Big Sky Women’s Golf Championship and the scores also rose. Despite shooting seven strokes higher on Saturday than it did on Friday, Sacramento State increased its lead and will head into Sunday’s final round with a seven stroke advantage.

    The Sacramento State women’s golf team played its final nine holes at 2-under par and sits in first place following the first round of the Big Sky Championship on Friday at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Hornets totaled a 2-over par score of 290 and lead Eastern Washington by three strokes. The remainder of the top five is comprised of Portland State and Montana State which are tied for third at 294 and Idaho at 296.

    For the second consecutive season, each member of the Sacramento State women’s golf team starting lineup earned all-Big Sky Conference honors. This year’s group is comprised of Julia Becker and Corinne Viden on the first team, Sofie Babic and Nishtha Madan on the second team as well as Sydney Smith who earned honorable mention.

    The third round of the Brickyard Collegiate was cancelled due to inclement weather leaving the Sacramento State women’s golf team in eighth place. Corinne Viden had the highest finish on the team, tying for 13th place after shooting 76-70-146.

    Julia Becker capped a tremendous two days by shooting an even-par round of 72 and finished alone in second place at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate on Tuesday. Becker shot 71-69-72-212 during the event which left her one shot off the school record which she shares with two others.

    The Sacramento State women’s golf team closed the first day of the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate in a familiar position — atop the leaderboard in a talented field. The Hornets, who most recently ran away with the title at The Gunrock Invitational, hold a 1-stroke lead over Tulsa heading into the final round on Tuesday. The 12-team field features three schools ranked among the top 50 nationally as well as two from the Big Ten and a pair from the Pac-12.

    Led by a 69 from Julia Becker in the first round and Sofie Babic in the second round, the Sacramento State women’s golf team began the spring portion of its schedule in midseason form. The Hornets shot 295-285-580 and are in second place among the 15 teams. Sacramento State is just two strokes behind 36th-ranked San Jose State and are 11 strokes ahead of 38th-ranked Georgia heading into the final round.

    Former Sacramento State golfer Astha Madan earned her Ladies European Tour card after tying for seventh place at the Finals Lalla Aicha Tour School in Morocco. Madan shot 65-74-69-76-66 in the five-round, multi-stage event.

    Former Nevada state champion Sydney Smith has transferred to the Sacramento State women’s golf team, it was announced today by head coach David Sutherland. Smith, who competed for Colorado State in the fall, will continue her freshman season for the Hornets this spring and will be immediately eligible.

    The Sacramento State women’s golf team has signed Tess Blair and Cloe Grand to National Letters of Intent, it was announced today. The pair will both enroll at the University as freshmen in the fall of 2019.

    Sacramento State junior Sofie Babic was named the Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week after her play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii. The honor is the second for Babic this season and the third of her career.
  • WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES FOURTH AT HAWAII; BABIC TIES FOR SECOND

    After rain cancelled the first two rounds of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Tuesday, the Sacramento State women’s golf team sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the only round of the tournament on Halloween. The Hornets shot 290 as a team to finish at 2-over par. The team was three strokes behind Florida International which won the event at 1-under par. Nebraska and New Mexico State were even to tie for second place.
