WOMEN'S GOLF, BABIC, PLACE SECOND AT WSU COUGAR CUP

PULLMAN, Wash. — Playing through rain, wind, temperatures in the low 50s and even a brief bout of hail, the Sacramento State women's golf team finished in second place at the WSU Cougar Cup on Tuesday at Palouse Ridge GC.

The Hornets had three individual finish among the top five with sophomore Sofie Babic leading the way by tying for second place and Astha Madan and Julia Becker tying for fifth place. Babic led the team in the final round with an ever-par 72. She started slowly with three bogeys on her first five holes and stayed at 3-over until a birdie on the par-5 ninth. She surged to under par on the back nine with birdies on the par-3 13th and par-4 14th and 15th. Two more pars came before a bogey on the par-5 18th.
