FRESNO, Calif. — Lisa Persson shot a 1-under par 71 and Sacramento State recorded the fifth best team score of the day during the final round of the Fresno State Lexus Classic on Tuesday.

The Hornets entered the day in 15th place but were able to finish in a tie for 10th after shooting 319-304-301-924. Long Beach State won the team title with a three-round total of 892.

Persson and Lexie Hall tied for 41st place for the highest individual finishes on the team. Persson shot 84-77 on Monday before tying her second lowest score at Sacramento State during the second round. Starting on the 10th hole, Persson immediately birdied the par-4 10th before back-to-back bogeys. A birdie on the par-5 13th returned her to even where she remained until bogeying the par-3 17th. Seven consecutive pars preceded a birdie on the par-4 seventh, a par on No. 8, and a birdie on the par-4 ninth.

Sagee Palavivatana overcame a difficult first day (80-83) with an even-par round of 72. The sophomore stood at 2-over with bogeys on Nos. 10 and 16 before a birdie on No. 17. She parred her nine of her remaining 10 holes along with with a birdie on the par-5 third.

Hall and Tiffany Nichols each shot 79 to count towards the team total. Hall bogeyed six of her first eight holes but halted the streak with a birdie on the par-4 18th.  After bogeying three of the first four holes on the front side of the course, she ended with four pars and a birdie on the par-3 eighth.

Nichols tied for 60th overall with a total of 82-77-79-238. On Tuesday, her round consisted of 11 pars and seven bogeys.

Senior Kercia Brakel tied for 53rd overall after shooting 77-77-71-235. Brakel completed her tournament with a round which was comprised of a birdie on the par-4 fourth, six pars and 10 bogeys.

Sacramento State will next compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships in Chandler, Ariz., from April 21-23.
