Persson Again the Low at Rainbow Wahine Invitational

WAHIAWA, Hawaii — Lisa Persson had two rounds of 75 and is tied for 12th place after the first two rounds of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Tuesday at the Leilehua Golf Course.

Persson had the lowest score on the team in both rounds and is six strokes off the individual lead of Washington State's Kristen Rue (71-73-144). In her first round, Persson was 4-over par through her first nine holes (starting on No. 12) but then carded birdies on the par-3 fifth and the par-4 seventh and eighth. However, bogeys on Nos. 9 and 11 closed out her round.

In the afternoon round, she was 1-under through eight holes but a double bogey on the par-3 fifth took her to 1-over. Her final nine holes consisted of seven pars and two bogeys.

Nicolette Bondura is tied for 44th place after shooting 81-77. The sophomore's first round consisted of one birdie, eight pars, eight bogeys and a double bogey. In the afternoon, she had three birdies, eight pars, six bogeys and a double.

Sophomore Sagee Palavivatana is one stroke behind Bondura after shooting 78-81. Palavivatana did not have a birdie in the morning but minimized her mistakes with only four bogeys and a double bogey. In the afternoon, she birdied the par-4 seventh but also had six bogeys and a pair of double bogeys.

Junior Tiffany Nichols opened with a round of 82  and followed with an 80. Nichols had nine pars, eight bogeys and a double bogey in her first round. She followed with a birdie, 11 pars, three bogeys and three double bogeys.

Sophomore Lexie Hall completed the lineup at 87-78. Hall bogeyed 15 of her first 18 holes in early round. Later in the day, she had three birdies, five bogeys, and two double bogeys.

Toledo and Florida International each totaled 595 and are tied for the team lead. Sacramento State is in sixth place at 316-310-626.
