Persson Leads Team in First Round of SCU Colby Invitational

UTH SAN JOSE, Calif. — Junior Lisa Persson shot 74 to lead the Sacramento State women's golf team in the first round of the SCU Colby Invitational on Monday at the Silver Creek Valley Country Club.

Persson is tied for seventh place at the midway point of the 36-hole tournament. Her score places her four strokes behind Cal State Northridge's Clariss Guce who holds the lead after a 2-under par 70.

The next two lowest scores posted by Sacramento State golfers belonged to Nicolette Bondura (78) and Sagee Palavivatana (79) who were both competing as individuals.

The team score counted rounds from Tiffany Nichols (80), Lexie Hall (86) and Natalie Bodnar (89).

Sacramento State shot 329 as a team and is in 11th place. UC Riverside holds the team lead with a total of 301. The tournament field also includes Big Sky Conference schools Montana State (320) and Northern Colorado (326).
