ROWING SWEEPS PAST SANTA CLARA

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Sacramento State rowing team was victorious in all four events (varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and novice four) against Santa Clara Saturday morning at the CSUS Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma.

The Hornets'' varsity eight improved its dual-meet record to 3-0 with a winning time of 7:11.1 over the 2,000-meter course, followed by Santa Clara (7:18.1). Head coach Mike Connors used the same varsity eight lineup as last week, consisting of Chanel Patterson at bow, Jamie Weatherfield at the two seat, Susan Kulzer at three, Jennifer Boyer at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Stephanie Brow at six, Katie Litvinchuk at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stroke and Christy Clifton at coxswain.

In the second varsity eight competition, the Hornets rowed to a winning time of 7:14.5, followed by Santa Clara (7:32.5) and Sacramento State''s novice eight boat (7:52.0). The Hornets'' second varsity eight lineup consisted of Kira Morrison at bow, Ashley Carl at two, Steffanie Jakovac at three, Brittney Claycamp at four, Lauren Coats at five, Megan Foley at six, Laura Harder at seven, Rebecca Hurtt at stroke and Nicole Reyes at coxswain. In a change from last week''s second varsity eight lineup, Carl replaced Sarah Karling in the two seat.

In the varsity four race, Sacramento State "A" finished with a winning time of 7:51.1, followed by Sacramento State "B" (8:07.2) and Santa Clara (8:09.5). The Hornets'' novice four rounded out the sweep as the boat posted a winning time of 8:29.2, followed by Sacramento State "B" (8:30.6) and Santa Clara (8:56.7).

Through two regattas this season, the Hornets have yet to lose a race in any competition comprising the varsity eight (3-0), second varsity eight (2-0), varsity four (3-0), novice eight (2-0), second novice eight (2-0) and novice four (1-0).

Sacramento State returns to the water next weekend as it takes part in the WCC Challenge at Redwood Shores, Calif., on March 15-16. The WCC Challenge consists of Sacramento State, Loyola Marymount, Gonzaga and San Diego.
