ROWING KICKS OFF FALL SEASON AT THE HEAD OF THE AMERICAN

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The Sacramento State women’s rowing team took home a pair of fifth place finishes in both the Women’s Novice Collegiate Eight and Women’s Collegiate Pair events to highlight its day at the Head of the American Saturday on Lake Natoma.

Today’s racing took place over a three-mile course with a time trial start format. Sacramento State competed one boat in the collegiate novice eight event (11-boat field), four boats in the collegiate pair (13-boat field) and three boats in the collegiate four (21-boat field).

In the novice collegiate eight, Sacramento State’s fifth place time was 19:35, trailing Stanford, Cal A, Cal B and Saint Mary’s, respectively.

In the collegiate pair, Sacramento State’s B, A, C and D boats finished fifth, seventh, 10th and 12th, respectively. In the collegiate four, the Hornets’ A, B and C boats finished ninth, 14th and 15th, respectively.

Sacramento State has just one regatta remaining on its fall schedule and that comes next week (Nov. 2) at the Newport Fall Regatta in Newport Beach, Calif.
