The racing took place over a three-mile course with a time trial start format. In the Collegiate Novice Eight race, the Hornets’ A boat had an opportunity to place first, but the team caught a boat-stopping crab with about 175 meters remaining which cost the boat at least 20 seconds. That allowed USC to finish first with a time of 19:26, followed by Sacramento State A (19:49), Cal A (20:17), Sacramento State B (20:56) and Pacific A (20:56) to round out the top five in a 13-boat field.

In the Collegiate Eight race which featured a 21-boat field, Sacramento State had three boats in the event, with the A boat placing sixth (18:05), the team’s B boat placing 11th (18:15), and the C boat 16th (19:10). Stanford A finished first with a time of 17:08, followed by Cal A (17:16), Gonzaga (17:17), Cal B (17:25) and San Diego State A (17:56) to round out the top five.

Sacramento State has just one regatta remaining on the fall schedule as the team travels to Newport Beach, Calif., to take part in the Newport Fall Regatta on Sunday, Nov. 12.
