The Hornets’ varsity eight improved its dual-meet record to 7-0 this spring as the team gets set for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships next weekend. Sacramento State’s top boat posted a 2,000-meter time of 6:51.5, over 15 seconds faster than Creighton (7:06.7).

Sacramento State’s second varsity eight also remained undefeated in dual-meet action (4-0) as the team easily handled the Bluejays with a time of 7:02.6. In fact, the Hornets’ novice eight finished second in that same race with a time of 7:09.5, as Creighton finished third at 7:21.7.

The Hornets also posted victories in a pair of varsity four competitions. In the first race, the Hornets’ “B” boat raced to a winning time of 7:40.7, followed by Creighton (8:00.3). In the second race, Sacramento State “A” (7:39.2) knocked off the Bluejays (8:10.7) by more than 31 seconds.
