As a senior (2010): One of just 12 student-athletes selected first team all-West Region, and the only non Pacific-10 Conference rower to receive first team accolades…became the fourth Sacramento State rower to be selected to the first team since the program gained intercollegiate status in 1995, and first since 2005…named second team in 2009, and is one of four Hornets to be selected all-region (first or second team) multiple times during their careers…never missed a raced with the Hornets’ varsity eight during her four-year career, competing in the stroke seat with the team’s top boat in every spring race her senior year…a first team all-WIRA selection for the second straight year, she helped lead the team’s varsity eight to its first WIRA title since 2006, and first Dad Vail Regatta championship since 2006…also recipient of the National Scholar-Athlete award for the third consecutive year (given to rowers with a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average)…became the fourth Hornet to earn the award three times during her career…was also one of two team captains (Kellie Cook) and named the team’s most outstanding rower for the second straight year…the varsity eight went a combined 30-14 in dual-meet races with Hopkins in the boat.
As a junior (2009): Named second team all-West Region, first team all-WIRA and the Hornets’ most outstanding rower after sitting at stroke in every spring race with the varsity eight...recipient of the National Scholar-Athlete Award for the second straight year...also stroked the varsity four in two races.
As a sophomore (2008): One of three Hornets to receive the National Scholar-Athlete Award...competed in every race with the varsity eight, primarily in the six seat...also rowed in the four and stroke seats...sat at six with the team’s varsity eight which won silver at the Dad Vail Regatta...competed with the team’s varsity four in five races (stroke seat twice, two seat three times)...that includes sitting at two in the four’s gold-medal winning performance at the WIRA Championships.
As a freshman (2007): One of two first-year rowers (Chelsea Semrau) to compete with the varsity eight in every race...sat primarily in the four seat...also appeared in the two seat with the team’s top boat.
High School: A 2006 graduate of the Davis School for Independent Study in Davis, Calif...competed one year of rowing (port side) for the River City Rowing Club...competed with the novice eight for River City in 2005-06.
Personal: Born June 28, 1988...parents are Jill and Anthony Hopkins...a kinesiology major...sister, Heather, also competes with the Hornets’ varsity eight.
