As a junior (2008): Competed with the second varsity eight in three races (five seat once, seven seat twice)...also competed with the second varsity four in the three seat...rowed with the second varsity eight in the Santa Clara dual, the Sacramento State Invitational and the San Diego Crew Classic...missed a good portion of the spring season with a back injury.
As a sophomore (2007): Competed with the second varsity eight (five seat), third varsity eight (five seat), open eight (five seat), varsity four (three seat), second varsity four (three seat), third varsity four (three seat) and pair (bow)...sat at bow with the pair that won bronze at the WIRA Championships...also sat at five with the open eight that won bronze at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships.
As a freshman (2006): Began the season with the second novice eight, spending time in the three, five and seven seats...moved up to the novice eight at the WIRA Championships, and helped the team to a bronze medal in the three seat...finished the season with the novice eight, also competing in the five seat.
High School: A 2004 graduate of Lompoc High School...played four years of soccer (1999-04) and one season of volleyball (2003)...was a first team all-conference selection in soccer during her senior season...recipient of a scholar letter in both 2003 and 2004.
Personal: Born March 11, 1986...parents are Steve and Charlene Payne...a biology major and a peace and conflict resolution minor.
