GOLD RIVER, Calif. -- Sacramento State competed four boats in Saturday’s Pacific Coast Rowing Championships (PCRC’s) at a windy Lake Natoma, and the Hornets medaled in three of those events.
Sacramento State took home a gold in the collegiate lightweight novice four, a bronze in both the open eight and collegiate novice four, and a first place finish in the petite final of the collegiate four.
The PCRC’s are open to all schools and clubs in the West Region, which include any rowing institution located in the states of Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado and Arizona. The regatta offers individual championships in every collegiate rowing category not offered in tomorrow’s Pacific-10 Conference Championships.
Complete results and lineups from each of Sacramento State’s races are below.
A good portion of Sacramento State’s squad was on the East Coast as the team’s varsity eight placed fifth in the grand final of the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia. The rest of the team competed at the PCRC’s.
Today marked the season finale for Sacramento State. The Hornets completed a successful 2011 campaign in which the team medaled in each of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship’s four most prestigious races (varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight) for the first time in school history. The WIRA’s serve as Sacramento State’s conference championship regatta.
