ROWING PLACES SEVENTH OUT OF 21 BOATS AT THE NEWPORT FESTIVAL

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – The Sacramento State women’s rowing team placed seventh out of 21 boats in Open Eight event at the 20th-annual Newport Autumn Rowing Festival Sunday afternoon at the Newport Aquatic Center.

Using primarily the same B boat that raced a week ago at the Head of the American, the Hornets finished the 2.7-mile race course with a seventh-place time of 17:51. UCLA’s A boat won the race with a time of 16:31, followed by Stanford B (16:50) and Stanford A (16:57) to round out the top three. The Open Eight was the only event the Hornets competed in today.

Sacramento State used the following lineup in today’s race: Teresa Seich at coxswain, Chelsea Semrau at stroke, Rachel Stewart at seven, Anne Morrison at six, Kellie Cook at five, Michelle Stern at four, Megan Riggs at three, Joanne Stacy at two and Victoria Jackson at bow.

The Hornets wrap up the fall schedule next week when they compete at the Head of the Lake in Seattle on Sunday, Nov. 11.
