ROWING FINISHES FOURTH IN PETITE FINAL OF SAN DIEGO CREW CLASSIC

SAN DIEGO – The Sacramento State women''s varsity eight raced to a fourth-place finish in the Cal Cup Petite Final of the San Diego Crew Classic Sunday morning at Mission Bay.

In a race that featured all six teams finishing within eight seconds of each other, the Hornets'' 2,000-meter time of 7:03.41 was less than five seconds behind first-place finishing UMass (6:58.96). Purdue finished second with a time of 6:59.67, followed by Miami (7:00.61), Sacramento State, SMU (7:04.62) and Georgetown (7:06.98).

The Hornets, who finished last season''s San Diego Crew Classic with a second-place finish in the petite final, inched ahead of SMU during the final 500 meters to grab fourth place.

Sacramento State''s second varsity eight took fifth in the Women''s JV Eight Petite Final. Texas crossed the 2,000-meter finish line with a winning time of 6:49.2, followed by Oregon State (6:50.02), Clemson (7:01.00), Kansas State (7:08.14), Sacramento State (7:11.22) and UMass (7:11.66).

The Hornets used the following varsity eight lineup for the second-consecutive day: Chanel Patterson at bow, Brittney Claycamp at the two seat, Susan Kulzer at three, Jennifer Boyer at four, Laura Harder at five, Stephanie Brow at six, Katie Litvinchuk at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stroke and Christy Clifton at coxswain.

The team’s second varsity eight lineup consisted of Kira Morrison at bow, Sarah Karling at two, Steffanie Jakovac at three, Ashley Carl at four, Lauren Coats at five, Rebecca Hurtt at six, Adelle Reimer at seven, Megan Foley at stroke and Nicole Reyes at coxswain.

Sacramento State returns to action next Saturday, April 12, as it looks to defend the Jean Runyon Cup against UC Davis at the CSUS Aquatic Center. The Hornets have defeated the Aggies each of the last four years and five of the last six years since the teams began racing for the Jean Runyon Cup in 1997.
