ROWING CRUISES TO VICTORY IN SPRING OPENER

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Sacramento State women''s rowing team opened its spring schedule in victorious fashion as the varsity eight, second varsity eight, novice eight, second novice eight and varsity four each posted wins in their respective heats Saturday morning at the CSUS Aquatic Center.

The Hornets'' varsity eight crossed 2,000-meter finish line with a time of 6:56.1, followed by Humboldt State (7:02.1), Cal''s Lightweights (7:30.2) and Mills College (8:03.6). Sacramento State''s varsity eight lineup consisted of Chanel Patterson at bow, Jamie Weatherfield at the two seat, Susan Kulzer at three, Jennifer Boyer at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Stephanie Brow at six, Katie Litvinchuk at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stroke and Christina Clifton at coxswain.

Sacramento State''s second varsity eight rowed to a winning time of 7:09.9, followed by Humboldt State "A" (7:42.0) and Humboldt State "B" (8:07.9). Head coach Mike Connors used the following second varsity eight lineup: Kira Morrison at bow, Sarah Karling at two, Steffanie Jakovac at three, Brittney Claycamp at four, Lauren Coats at five, Megan Foley at six, Laura Harder at seven, Rebecca Hurtt at stroke and Nicole Reyes at coxswain.

In the novice eight competition, the Hornets (7:09.0) beat out Humboldt State (7:26.1), Saint Mary''s (7:27.2) and Cal Lightweights (7:38.3). The second novice eight crossed the finish line with a winning time of 7:51.1, followed by Saint Mary''s (8:08.7), Humboldt State (8:10.7) and Cal Lightweights (8:24.4).

Assistant coach Carrie Hagen used the following novice eight lineup: Morrison at bow, Karling at two, Allison King at three, Ashley Carl at four, Jakovac at five, Claycamp at six, Harder at seven, Foley at stroke and Leia Hawley at coxswain. Morrison, Karling, Jakovac, Claycamp, Harder and Foley each rowed with both the second varsity eight and novice eight boats.

Sacramento State''s varsity four rounded out the sweep as the Hornets posted a winning time of 7:55.2, followed by Sacramento State "B" (7:56.7), Saint Mary''s (8:07.0), Humboldt State (8:24.0) and Mills College (9:00.6)

The Hornets return to the water next Saturday, March 8, as the team hosts Santa Clara for a dual meet.
