ROWING ADVANCES TO SEMIFINAL ROUND OF THE DAD VAIL REGATTA

PHILADELPHIA – The Sacramento State women''s varsity eight won its heat by more than 12 seconds today in the first round of the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River. With the victory, the Hornets advance to the semifinals which begin tomorrow (Saturday, May 11) at 10:17 a.m. EST.

The Hornets crossed the 2,000-meter finish line with a time of 6:51.2, followed by John Carroll University (7:03.3), Bryn Mawr (7:10.5), Rensselaer (7:11.8) and Vermont (7:22.7). A total of 43 schools from around the country are competing in the women''s varsity heavyweight eight competition, with the Hornets entering the event as the No. 4 seed. Boston College is the No. 1 seed while Massachusetts (No. 2) and Lehigh (No. 3) round out the top three seeds.

If the Hornets finish among the top two boats in tomorrow''s semifinal, they will advance to the grand final which is set to begin at 1:07 p.m. EST tomorrow.

Sacramento State used the following lineup today: Hannah Metzger at bow, Stephanie Brow at the two seat, Robyn Soliman at three, Veronica Karpinski at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Megan Warren at six, Megan Spitze at seven, Mieke Boynton at stroke and Breanne Hart at coxswain.

This year marks the first time in program history the Hornets have participated at the Dad Vail Regatta.
