ROWING FALLS TO CINCINNATI

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – Cincinnati dealt the Sacramento State women''s varsity eight its second dual-meet loss of the season as the Bearcats defeated the Hornets by 4.4 seconds Saturday morning at the CSUS Aquatic Center.

The Hornets, who are now 7-2 in dual meets this season, finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 7:05.4, trailing Cincinnati''s winning time of 7:01.0. In the second varsity eight competition, Sacramento State (7:22.2) overtook Cincinnati (7:23.0) at the conclusion of the race to go on for the victory.

Cincinnati won the varsity four race with a time of 8:28.9, followed by Sacramento State (8:35.4). In the novice eight, the Hornets rowed to a winning time of 7:44.0, followed by the Bearcats (8:01.5).

Head coach Bill Zack used the following varsity eight lineup for the second-consecutive week: Chanel Patterson at bow, Stephanie Brow at the two seat, Robyn Soliman at three, Veronica Karpinski at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Megan Warren at six, Megan Spitze at seven, Mieke Boynton at stroke and Breanne Hart at coxswain.

Assistant coach Katie Summy used the following second varsity eight lineup: Hannah Metzger at bow, Rebecca Hurtt at two, Sheena Tahilramani at three, Pattie Shagam at four, Erika Bracy at five, Angela Tombolini at six, Jamie Weatherfield at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stoke and Jenna DuBois at coxswain.

Assistant coach Carrie Hagen used the following novice eight lineup: Jessica Davis at bow, Jennifer Ives at two, Susan Kulzer at three, Jodi Johnson at four, Kelsey Smith at five, Kirstie Smith at six, Katie Dawn Warren at seven, Katie Litvinchuk at stroke and Nicole Reyes at coxswain.

Sacramento State returns to the water next weekend (May 4-5) as it hosts the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships. The Hornets'' varsity eight will be seeking its third-consecutive WIRA championship.
