ROWING'S WINNING STREAK COMES TO AN END AFTER LOSS TO STANFORD

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Sacramento State women''s varsity eight''s winning streak came to an end as the team fell to Stanford Saturday morning at the CSUS Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma. The Hornets'' top boat had won its first six dual meets of the season before falling today.

Stanford swept all three races, winning the varsity eight, second varsity eight and novice eight competitions.

The Cardinal varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:42.7, followed by Sacramento State (7:03.8). The Hornets had won eight-consecutive dual meets dating back to last season prior to today''s loss. Head coach Bill Zack used the following lineup for the first time this season: Robyn Soliman at bow, Stephanie Brow at the two seat, Adelle Reimer at three, Mieke Boynton at four, Jamie Weatherfield at five, Megan Warren at six, Megan Spitze at seven, Veronica Karpinski at stroke and Breanne Hart at coxswain.

In the second varsity eight competition, the Cardinal crossed the finish line with a winning time of 6:58.8, followed by Stanford "B" (7:12.0) and Sacramento State (7:17.7).

Sacramento State''s second varsity eight lineup consisted of Chanel Patterson at bow, Rebecca Hurtt at two, Sheena Tahilramani at three, Angela Tombolini at four, Pattie Shagam at five, Karen Donaldson at six, Paula Clamurro at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stoke and Christina Clifton at coxswain.

In the novice eight, Stanford rowed to a winning time of 7:06.2, followed by the Hornets (7:18.1).

Sacramento State returns to the water April 6-7 as the team competes in the San Diego Crew Classic.
