RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Sacramento State women's varsity eight capped off an impressive weekend as it defeated Loyola Marymount by almost four seconds in the second day of the Sacramento State Rowing Invitational at the CSUS Aquatic Center on Lake Natoma.With the victory, the Hornets improved their record to 6-0 and have now won eight-consecutive dual meets dating back to last season. Sacramento State swept all three of its varsity eight races at the invitational, defeating both Indiana and Stanford's lightweight crew yesterday.
The Hornets' varsity eight finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 6:55.4, followed by Loyola Marymount (6:59.3). Head coach Bill Zack used the following lineup for the fourth time this season: Robyn Soliman at bow, Stephanie Brow at the two seat, Erika Bracy at three, Veronica Karpinski at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Megan Warren at six, Megan Spitze at seven, Mieke Boynton at stroke and Breanne Hart at coxswain.
Sacramento State was also victorious in the second varsity eight and novice eight competitions today. In the second varsity eight race, the Hornets crossed the finish line with a time of 7:17.8, followed by UC Davis (7:28.0) and Loyola Marymount (7:42.8). In the novice eight competition, Sacramento State raced to a time of 7:27.4, followed by UC Davis "B" (7:47.5).
Sacramento State's second varsity eight lineup consisted of Chanel Patterson at bow, Rebecca Hurtt at two, Sheena Tahilramani at three, Angela Tombolini at four, Paula Clamurro at five, Pattie Shagam at six, Jamie Weatherfield at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stoke and Jenna DuBois at coxswain.
The novice eight lineup consisted of Susan Kulzer at bow, Jodi Johnson at two, Jessica Davis at three, Jennifer Ives at four, Kirstie Smith at five, Kelsey Smith at six, Hannah Metzger at seven, Katie Litvinchuk at stroke and Nicole Reyes at coxswain.
Sacramento State returns to the water next weekend as it hosts Stanford on Saturday, March 30, at the CSUS Aquatic Center.
