RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – The Sacramento State women''s varsity eight improved its dual-meet record to 3-0 as it defeated Santa Clara by more than 40 seconds Saturday morning at the CSUS Aquatic Center. The Hornets were also victorious in the varsity four competition.Sacramento State''s varsity eight finished the windy 2,000-meter course with a time of 7:06.4, followed by the Hornets'' second varsity eight boat (7:19.3) and Santa Clara (7:46.5).
In the varsity four, the Hornets crossed the finish line with a time of 8:43.2, followed by Santa Clara "A" (8:53.0) and Santa Clara "B" (9:12.6). The Broncos (7:56.3) were victorious in the novice eight, beating the Hornets by 2.7 seconds (7:59.0).
For the second-consecutive regatta, Sacramento State''s varsity eight lineup consisted of Robyn Soliman at bow, Stephanie Brow at the two seat, Erika Bracy at three, Veronica Karpinski at four, Adelle Reimer at five, Megan Warren at six, Megan Spitze at seven, Mieke Boynton at stroke and Breanne Hart at coxswain.
Sacramento State''s second varsity eight lineup consisted of Chanel Patterson at bow, Rebecca Hurtt at two, Sheena Tahilramani at three, Angela Tombolini at four, Paula Clamurro at five, Karen Donaldson at six, Jamie Weatherfield at seven, Sarah McKenzie at stoke and Christina Clifton at coxswain.
The varsity four consisted of Patterson at bow, Donaldson at two, Weatherfield at three, McKenzie at stroke and Jenna DuBois at coxswain.
The Hornets, who are now 21-4 in dual meets over the last three years, return to the water on March 23-24 as they host the Sacramento State Invitational. Other teams competing at the invite include UC Davis, Indiana and Loyola Marymount.
