SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State forward Kennedy Nicholas has been named the Big Sky Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

The award is the first of the season for the Hornets and the second career recognition for Nicholas (Jan. 22, 2019).

The Hornets played just one game last week, but the senior forward made the most of it, matching her career-with 30 points on the road at Causeway rival UC Davis. Nicholas led both teams in scoring while also pulling down a team-high 11 rebounds, giving her her first double-double of the season. Nicholas also had an assist and a steal in the game against the Aggies. She finished with a +12 plus/minus rating.

After missing the first two games of the season, Nicholas has now played in three straight, starting each of the last two. In her three games this year, Nicholas is averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game.

Nicholas' 30-point performance is the second time this season that an individual has scored 30-points in the Big Sky Conference.  Her single-game total is tied for the most in the league this year, tying Idaho's Gina Marxen who was last week's player of the week.

Sacramento State remains on the road for two more weeks before returning to the Nest to host Ohio State on Dec. 17. Up first, the Hornets play Friday, Dec. 6 at Seattle U at 11 a.m. PT.
