OGDEN, Utah - Sacramento State's Kennedy Nicholas was named a Big Sky preseason-all conference selection on Wednesday, the league announced. Nicholas is one of seven players named to the squad. 

Nicholas, a senior forward, had a breakout season in 2018-19 for the Hornets, setting new career-bests in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and more. She was a Big Sky conference Honorable Mention selection at the end of the year.

She averaged a double-double, scoring 13.0 points per game and collecting 11.1 rebounds per game, both career-bests. Her 11.1 rebounds were also most in the Big Sky a year ago.

Coming into the 2019-20 season, Nicholas is the Big Sky's leading returning scorer and rebounder.

The six-foot-three senior forward recorded 12 double-doubles last season, most in the Big Sky, and also tallied 78 blocks, third most in Sacramento State single-season history.

Nicholas is one of seven players named to the Big Sky's preseason all-conference team. Six different teams were represetend in the poll, with Montana State earning two representatives, including the preseason MVP, Fallyn Freije. The full team, as announced by the league:

The 2019-20 season of Sacramento State women's basketball begins on Saturday, Nov. 9 on the road as the Hornets take on Nevada. The Sacramento State home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, No. 13 against Cal State Maritime at 7 p.m. in the Nest.
