SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Junior forward Kennedy Nicholas was named the Big Sky Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week after leading Sacramento State to a 2-0 performance at home this past week.
Nicholas averaged an incredible 18.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in back-to-back wins in the Nest over Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. Further, the junior from Kirkland, Washington, pulled in 7.5 offensive boards and tallied 3.5 blocks per game, as well.
Most recently, Nicholas pulled in a career-best 20 rebounds on Saturday against Southern Utah while scoring a team-high 22 points. The 20-rebound game is tied for sixth highest in single game history and is the most since Margarent Huntington recorded 21 in 2016.
On Thursday, Nicholas recorded another double-double, scoring 14 points and collecting 10 rebounds. In total, she has a Big Sky-leading seven double-doubles this season.
The Big Sky honor is the first of Nicholas's career and the second for the Hornets this season. Junior guard Hannah Friend was named the league' co-Player of the Week earlier this season.
Sacramento State is back on the road this week as they travel to Moscow, Idaho to face the Vandals before traveling to Cheney, Washington for a contest against the Eastern Washington Eagles. More information is available online at HornetSports.com.
