OGDEN, Utah – Sacramento State junior point guard Fantasia Hilliard has been selected as Big Sky Player of the Week after leading the Hornets to a pair of wins over Montana State and Montana, the conference announced Monday.
Hilliard also earned Big Sky Player of the Week honors from College Sports Madness. Sacramento State has now received conference Player of the Week honors four times this season while no other school has garnered the award more than twice.
Hilliard led the Hornets to a sweep in the first week of Big Sky conference play, averaging 19.0 points and 8.5 assists per game while shooting 14-of-25 (56.0%) from the field and 80.0% from the free-throw line.
On Thursday against Montana State, Hilliard posted her third double-double of the season with 26 points and a career-high tying 12 assists while adding two steals and a block and shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 7-of-8 from the line. She had a big game against Montana as well, totaling 12 points, five assists, three rebounds, and one steal while shooting 5-of-8 to lead the Hornets to a win over the defending Big Sky champions.
For the week she made two 3-pointers in four attempts and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Hilliard leads the Big Sky and ranks fourth in the NCAA with 7.6 assists per game this season and is second in program history in career assists.
