OGDEN, Utah – After leading Sacramento State to season-opening victories over Cal State Northridge and San Diego State while breaking the program record for career 3-pointers, Hornet senior guard Alle Moreno has been named Big Sky Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Moreno totaled 38 points (19.0 points per game), 10 rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the two games. She combined to shoot 9-of-15 from 3-point range (60.0%) and 10-of-18 overall from the field while going 9-of-12 at the free throw line. Six of her 10 rebounds came on the offensive glass as she also led the team with 49 minutes played.
The senior team captain from Lodi, Calif. scored a team-high 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting against San Diego State, making 6-of-9 three-point attempts as she broke the program record for career 3-pointers during the game. She added six rebounds, two steals, and one assist against the Aztecs, and her four-point play in the final minute gave the Hornets the win.
On Friday Moreno totaled 15 points while shooting 3-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-7 from the free throw line while adding four rebounds, four assists, and two steals against Cal State Northridge.
Her career 3-point total now stands at 180 after she surpassed the previous career record of 176 set by Kim Sheehy in 2004-07.
