Hilliard Earns Co-Player of the Week Honors for Second Time this Season


Sacramento State women's basketball student-athlete Fantasia Hilliard was named Big Sky Conference Co-Player of the Week for the games played the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3, the league announced on Monday.

Hilliard shared the award with Montana's Katie Baker.

This is Hilliard's second player of the week honor this year, as she also won on Jan. 14. It's the fourth award for the Hornets this season with Se'nyce Parrish and Kylie Kuhns also winning in addition to Hilliard.

Hilliard, a sophomore from Sacramento, Calif., averaged 17.5 points, 8.0 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 6.0 steals in a pair of wins over the weekend against Northern Arizona and Southern Utah.

Her best performance was a near quadruple-double on Saturday against the Thunderbirds. Hilliard posted a career-high 24 points with 10 assists, eight rebounds and eight steals. In Thursday's win over Northern Arizona, Hilliard posted 11 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals.

Hilliard is averaging a team-best 13.3 points per game in conference games and leads the league with 6.8 assists per game.

Baker had 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals in Thursday's 72-61 win over Portland State as Montana overcame an 8-point second-half deficit. Baker had 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting in Saturday's 76-51 victory over Eastern Washington.
