Kuhns Awarded Co-Big Sky Player of the Week
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento State's
Kuhns has been named Big Sky Player of the Week four times in her career. She is the second to earn the honor this season, as junior won after scoring 39 points in an overtime win at Oregon State. Hornets earned the award three times last season.
Kuhns, a senior from Salem, Ore., tallied 20 points and 15 boards to push Sacramento State past rival UC Davis, 66-65, in overtime on Sunday afternoon. With the Hornets down three to the Aggies and under a minute left in the game, Kuhns grabbed an offensive rebound on a missed three-pointer and, as she was fouled, muscled in a layup. She sank the ensuing game-tying free throw to tie it up at 57-57 and force overtime.
Kuhns also tied Sacramento State's career steals record with two against the Aggies, matching Kristy Ryan's mark of 179. Kuhns is the first player in school history to reach 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Last weekend, Kuhns became the fifth player in Big Sky Conference history to reach 1,000 career rebounds.
Buck scored 18 points with six rebounds and five blocks as UND knocked off Utah, 62-56, on Saturday.
