CHENEY, Wash. -- Sacramento State shot just 32.0 percent (16-50) from the floor and committed 26 turnovers as the Hornets fell to Eastern Washington, 77-46, in a Big Sky Conference women’s basketball game Thursday evening at Reese Court.

With the victory, the Eagles snapped a three-game losing streak while improving their record to 13-8 overall and 4-4 in the Big Sky. Sacramento State lost its season-high ninth game in a row while dropping to 2-19 and 0-8 in the conference.

After Sacramento State jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on a lay-up by freshman Sarah Craig, Eastern Washington scored the next six points and never trailed for the remainder of the contest. The Eagles dominated the Hornets in field goal percentage (.460-.320), assists (19-9) and three-point field goals (10-3). Sacramento State has now shot below 40.0 percent in four-consecutive games and seven of the last eight overall. Eastern Washington’s 10 three-pointers were the most the Hornets have allowed in a game this season.

Three Eagles finished in double figures comprising Michelle Demetruk (15), Stephanie Ulmer (12) and Kathleen Nygaard (11). Felice Moore led Eastern Washington with eight rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots. Demetruk converted on 4-of-5 three-pointers and Brandie Bounds converted on three three-pointers as she finished with nine points. The Eagles’ 31-point margin of victory was also the team’s largest lead of the night.

Sacramento State was led by Craig and junior Diane Peterson, who each tallied 12 points. Junior Sydney Gatson finished with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. The Hornets’ 26 turnovers was the team’s fifth-worst mark of the season as every player but Crystal Conley had at least one turnover.

Sacramento State returns to action this Saturday, Feb. 15, as it travels to Portland, Ore., to take on Portland State at 7:05 p.m.
