WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO WEBER STATE, 73-47

OGDEN, Utah -- Weber State’s Sheila Robertson finished with a game-high 15 points to lead the Wildcats to a 73-47 victory over Sacramento State in a Big Sky Conference women''s basketball game Saturday evening at the Dee Events Center.

The Hornets fell to 2-15 overall and 0-4 in the Big Sky while the Wildcats raised their record to 11-6, 3-1.

In the first period, junior forward Nichole Hardaway recorded eight points and the Hornets shot 13-of-23 from the floor (.565) to trail, 35-30, at the break.

The Wildcats opened the second period on a 7-0 run to take control and finally pushed the lead to double figures for good with 13:06 remaining. Sacramento State was held to only 6-of-23 shooting (.261) from the field in the second frame.

Julie Gjertsen (14) and Angela Sampson (11) joined Robertson in double-figure scoring while Sampson also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to lead the Wildcats.

Hardaway, who tallied a team-high seven rebounds, and junior Danielle Iceman each finished with eight points to lead the Hornets in scoring. Junior guards Diane Peterson (seven points) and Delores Olivarez (four assists) also contributed for Sacramento State.

The Hornets will next host Montana State on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 7:05 p.m. before concluding their week against Montana on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 7:05 p.m. in the Hornet Nest.
