WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES AT MONTANA

Kylie Kuhns had 16 points and eight rebounds in a loss at Montana.

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Sacramento State women's basketball team stumbled, 79-54, at Montana on Thursday night in a Big Sky Conference game at Dahlberg Arena.

The Hornets (8-17, 3-9 Big Sky) were outmuscled on the glass as the Lady Griz (14-10, 7-4) had 14 more offensive rebounds and 24 more total boards in the contest.

It was tied up, 21-21, with 7:06 left in the first half when Montana went on a 16-2 run to close out the opening period with a 37-23 lead. The surge continued after the break as Montana went on a 21-7 run in the first 7:40 of the second half to build a 28-point lead at 58-30.

Kylie Kuhns had a team-high 16 points for the Hornets but was two rebounds short of her 19th double-double of the season. Freshman point guard Fantasia Hilliard had seven points, five assists and five rebounds.

Montana had three starters score in double figures, led by Torry Hill's game-high 18 points while Jordan Sullivan had a game-high 15 points.

Sacramento State shot 29.7 percent overall on 19-of-64 shooting, including 6-of-26 from 3-point range. The Hornets snagged 38 rebounds, committed 14 turnovers and had 12 assists. They went 10-of-18 at the free throw line.

Montana shot 36.7 percent from the field on 29-of-79 shooting, with 7-of-17 coming from beyond the arc. The Lady Griz grabbed 62 rebounds, were pressured into 15 turnovers and had 19 assists. They went 14-of-16 at the free throw line.

Up next weekend for the Hornets is a game at Montana State on Saturday.
