WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SLIPS UP AT WEBER STATE

Sadie Clements had career-highs with 13 points and eight boards but the Hornets lost at WSU.
OGDEN, Utah - The Sacramento State women's basketball team cut Weber State's 19-point lead to less than 10 with seven minutes to play but could not complete the comeback as the Hornets dropped a Big Sky Conference game, 81-68, at the Dee Events Center.
The Hornets slide to 3-24 (0-14 Big Sky) after the loss while the Wildcats improve to 7-19 (3-11) after the win.
Down 19 points at 66-47 with 9:51 left in the second half, the Hornets went on a run. Kylie Kuhns hit a jumper and a free throw, Sadie Clements knocked down a pair at the charity stripe and both Tika Koshiyama-Diaz and Sami Field-Polisso hit 3-pointers in just under two minutes to cut the Weber State lead to just eight points, 66-58, with 7:55 remaining.
But the Wildcats quickly pushed their lead back to double digits and would finish with a 13-point victory.
Kuhns had 20 points and 11 rebounds for her conference-leading 11th double-double this season. Koshiyama-Diaz posted 19 points for her highest output this season since she scored 21 against San Francisco on Dec. 1, 2010.
Freshman Sadie Clements also chipped in a career-high 13 points to go along with a career-best eight rebounds.
The Hornets had a season-low nine turnovers in the game but also had a season-low six assists. The Hornets entered the game ranked No. 15 in the nation averaging 17 assists per game.
Weber State also had three players score in double figures, with Megan Patterson's 21 points leading the way. Amanda Hughes tallied 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Sacramento State shot 34.8-percent from the floor on 24-of-69 shooting, including 4-of-20 from 3-point range. The Hornets snagged 42 rebounds, committed nine turnovers and had six assists on their 24 made baskets. They went 16-of-26 at the free throw line.
Weber State shot 43.8-percent overall on 28-of-64 shooting, with 8-of-23 coming from beyond the arc. The Wildcats grabbed 46 rebounds, were pressured into 15 turnovers and had 16 assists on 28 made hoops. They went 17-of-22 at the free throw line.
Sacramento State will return home next weekend to play host to Northern Arizona and Weber State for the final games in the 2010-11 season. The Hornets will play the Lumberjacks at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday night before Senior Day against the Wildcats at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday. Both seniors, Koshiyama-Diaz and Jasmine Cannady, will be honored before the game.
