SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State women's basketball team dropped a 92-79 decision to Big Sky Conference foe Montana State on Saturday afternoon at The Nest.
The Hornets slide to 3-21 (0-11 Big Sky) with the loss while the first-place Bobcats improve to 15-10 (9-2) after the victory.
Sacramento State had a 48-46 lead at halftime after both teams shot an identical 46.2-percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. The Hornets led by as much as six in the first half but Montana State turned it on after the break.
After it was tied up 54-54 with 16:27 left in the game, the Bobcats went on a 12-4 run to go up eight and, despite a pair of Sacramento State rallies, Montana State would never lead by less than four in the remainder of the contest.
Kylie Kuhns posted her third straight double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds against Montana State. Freshman
Shanti Smith posted a career-high 14 points and
Jasmine Cannady added 19 points.
Sami Field-Polisso also scored in double-digits with 10 points.
Tika Koshiyama-Diaz had nine assists after posting eight on Thursday night against Montana.
All five Montana State starters scored in double-figures, with Lyndi Seidensticker's 21 points leading the way. Sarah Balian posted a double-double with 20 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Rachel Semansky also had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Sacramento State shot 39.2-percent from the floor on 31-of-79 shooting, including 7-of-25 from 3-point range. The Hornets snagged 39 rebounds, committed a season-low 11 turnovers and had 20 assists on their 31 made baskets. They went 10-of-14 at the free throw line.
Montana State shot 47.9-percent overall on 34-of-71 shooting, with 7-of-22 coming from beyond the arc. The Bobcats grabbed 50 rebounds, were pressured into 17 turnovers and had 19 assists on 34 made hoops. They went 17-of-23 at the free throw line.
Sacramento State's next home game will be a battle with Northern Colorado at 2:05 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19.
